During the initial assessment session we will talk with you about your concerns and observe the child or adult in conversation or play.
Our goal is to gain an understanding of the person's communication development and identify any areas that would benefit further support.
After the session, a summary email will be sent with information about the assessment findings and recommendations. We will also give strategies that you can start using straight away, to support communication.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems play a vital role in supporting individuals who benefit from additional tools to be able to communicate. We understand the importance of AAC and offer comprehensive AAC assessments to help clients access funded equipment through Enable NZ.
Our AAC assessment process begins with an initial assessment to understand the individual's unique communication needs and determine if AAC could be a beneficial support. We then provide access to trial devices to further evaluate the best technology fit for their specific requirements.
Sarah is accredited with Communication Assistive Technology Accreditation at Level 1 and 2, and has the expertise to guide clients through the funding application process. She can apply funding for AAC systems and provide training and ongoing support to ensure successful implementation. This includes clients with more complex needs due to the CAT level 2 accreditation.
While families have the option to refer to TalkLink Trust for publicly funded assessments and funding applications, it's important to note that there may be a waitlist for this service.
We are happy to talk through if an AAC assessment would be beneficial for you or your loved one.
Pricing for an AAC assessment varies depending on the number of sessions required, and the length of report required to apply for funding. We are able to provide individualized information based on your or your loved one’s communication needs.
