Hi! My name is Sarah and I am a Speech and Language Therapist based in Christchurch. I’m passionate about supporting children and adults to improve their communication, build confidence and make lasting connections.
I have experience assessing and working with children and adults with various communication difficulties. From speech, language, stuttering, social skills, complex needs and Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems (AAC).
I earned my Bachelor of Speech and Language Therapy from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, in 2011. In 2017, I increased my knowledge by completing a Masters in Specialist Teaching Autism (with Distinction). My research project, focused on young adults with Autism and the use of communication devices (AAC), was recognized with an award from the New Zealand Speech Therapy Association. I am a full member of the New Zealand Speech Therapy Association and a registered member of Speech Pathology Australia.
Creating a warm and encouraging environment for Speech-Therapy is important to me. I believe in making therapy sessions enjoyable and providing practical advice that fits in with your daily routine. Collaboration is key, and I highly value your opinions and priorities as we work together towards achieving your communication goals for your child or for yourself.
I look forward to connecting with you soon!
Sarah Houlahan
